LAHA Welcomes Mark Whiteley as Expert Clinical Lecturer

In his presentations to the LAHA and International Fotona Meeting participants from over 40 countries around the world, he introduced the results of a pilot study in EVLA and presented on the treatment of hyperhidrosis using QCW Nd:YAG laser.

Presenting on the use of the XP-2 laser for EVLA and its effect to decrease post-procedure pain scores, Mark Whiteley discussed a pilot study which showed surprising results in comparison to the use of 810nm diode laser. In one segment of the study he performed EVLA procedures with the XP-2’s 1064nm, QCW Nd:YAG laser on one side and a 810nm diode laser on the other. Patients reported pain and bruising lasting 2-3 weeks on the 810nm side and virtually no pain and bruising on the 1064nm, QCW Nd:YAG side. In a second study segment patients kept a pain diary, including a VAS assessment at day 3 post-op. In the 1064nm, QCW Nd:YAG group pain and bruising were significantly decreased and only 1 patient reported a haematoma. In a second presentation Mark Whiteley introduced hyperhidrosis and his experiences using the XP-2 laser’s QCW Nd:YAG in laser sweat ablation procedures.
